Toronto Outdoor Adventure Show Recap: Sold Out, Soaked in Energy, and a First Look at ROVE

If you want to see what a gear-obsessed crowd looks like in a convention center, spend a weekend in the Paddle Section at the Toronto Outdoor Adventure Show.

We showed up at the International Centre with what we thought was a three-day supply of KiffLab gear.

By Friday night, some of the TuziGazi range was gone. Sold out. Empty shelves and boxes. It’s an odd feeling to stand in a booth on Saturday morning with limited supply left to sell, but the energy from the crowd made it a "problem" we were happy to deal with. It turns out people are tired of gear that fails, and they were ready for something better.

At the Booth: Real Questions, Better Answers

Our spot oposite the paddle pool was a constant stream of paddlers, canoe campers, and people who just wanted a bag that wouldn't leak.

The conversations weren't about "lifestyle aesthetics." They were about utility: “Is this actually submersible?” “Can I drag this across a rocky portage?” “How comfortable are the straps with weight?”

Testing the materials and running the zippers in person changed the conversation. People didn't just look at the bags-they vetted them.

ROVE: The Modular System

The biggest takeaway from the weekend was the reaction to our ROVE modular backpack system. We have been working on this design with the team at Rove Productions for over a year

We brought a demo version to show where KiffLab is heading. The concept is straightforward: one backpack that adapts to what you’re doing that day. Whether it’s a commute with a laptop, a day on the water with dry gear, or a weekend trip, you swap the modules instead of repacking a new bag. Effectively, 6 backpacks in one system.

The feedback was loud and clear: You want gear that is as flexible as you are, and ROVE is designed to do exactly that.

TuziGazi Restocks

To everyone who grabbed a TuziGazi waterproof pack on Friday: thank you. To those who showed up Saturday and Sunday to find an empty rack: We’re moving as fast as possible on restocks.

What’s Next

1. The best part of these shows isn't the sales, it's the stories. Hearing about your upcoming adventures, your favorite routes, and the gear failures you’ve dealt with in the past is what drives our design process.

2. Want to be the first to know when ROVE drops? We’re building a specific list for the launch. Subscribers get the first look, early access, and details on the initial production run before the general public.

Toronto, thank you. To everyone who stopped by the booth, asked the tough questions, and supported a local brand-we appreciate it. We’re headed back to the lab to get back to work.

See you on the water.
